Is lucky draw same like gambling or "MAYSIR"?

Lucky draw is stroke of good fortune.

In this case you spend the money first (by sending sms or buying a stuff) in order to join lucky draw. However, it is not guarantee you will get what you want.

There is chance you can win the lucky draw or you lose and meaning there are some people suffer due to lose and only few people who get the benefit from this program. In other words, win by chance and lose by chance. Therefore, this program creates uncertainty or "GHARAR" which means haram (Wa Allah A'Lam).

The Sunnah of the Prophet (Peace and Blessing of Allah upon him) has specifically prohibited transactions which involved elements gharar (Saleem 2009).

What the difference with gambling or "MAYSIR" which is haram?

There is difference between gambling and lucky draw in term of the purpose. Commonly, Lucky draw's purpose is only for fun and not really to get the doorprize because buyers have bought the stuff they want and the seller only makes the program in order to encourage them to use their products. In addition, in the office event or family event or anyevent they do not have to spend any cent to join the lucky draw. On the other hand, gambling like you buy the numbers to get the prize (money) if you are lucky and more you buy the number more less probability to lose and various kind of gambling such as you play cards with money as a bet.

The similarity is same scheme that you will win by chance or lose by chance and it is uncertainty transaction. Nowadays, many companies use lucky draw to encourage people to use their product and sometime there is manupulation or deceiption.

However, everything depends on you "INTENTION" like I mentioned above that lucky draw can be conducted in family or office event which everybody gets the gift and it creates just for fun.

1.BANK lUCKY DRAW PROGRAM

The BANK A has lucky draw program. It all depends on the point, more point can get by putting more money in your account and more point meaning more chance you will win and bigger prize. As a result, customers compete to save more money in that bank and obtain more point. In the day of the lucky draw, only three people got LUX CAR and 10 people get MOTORCYCLE and others got nothing.

2. TV PROGRAM (SMS)
There are many similiar program like lucky draw such as in Indonsia there is a television progaram at midnight. The presenter wore "unfinished clothes, or not enough material clothes", and she asked us to send SMS in order us to get a Motorscyle in the end of the program if we are lucky.
